Hey everyone! For today’s post I wanted to share about our recent trip to Sedona,Arizona! My fiancé and I are total adventure people. We love mountain biking (that’s how we met), hiking, camping, riding dirt bikes, almost everything you can think of- we love to do! So Sedona was definitely one of our top trips we wanted to take and we did!
Sedona is the type of area that you can go to visit and just wing it; at least that’s what we did. We went with a “base plan” but ended up doing whatever we felt like doing each day. And in my opinion, those are the best trips.
First tip when going to Sedona: Stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Sedona! This hotel was amazing! It is only two stories and each room has a balcony with a view that is to die for, whether it be in the early morning for sunrise or late afternoon for sunset. The pool area was our favorite, especially after a long hike or bike ride! Next to the pool area were fire pit areas that were perfect for “a night in” vibe after a long day out and about. The service was amazing and the simplicity of it all really made you feel like a home away from home. Plus!!! There were some AMAZING mountain bike trails right out of the hotel entrance! We rode our bikes right out of the front and rode some of the best trails we have ever ridden! What more could anyone ask for?! I’ve attached a link to the hotel so you can check it out and book your next trip! http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/flgcs-courtyard-sedona/?scid=bb1a189a-fec3-4d19-a255-54ba596febe2
Something you MUST do: For those of you who like to enjoy the nature around you and hike then you HAVE to do the hike to Devils Bridge! This hike is literally for everyone. You can make it shorter by taking the main road up to the trail or make it longer with any of the side trails! On our way up we took the main rode to avoid getting lost. The trail is pretty moderate but once you are about a half mile (if not less) away from the top point, it can get a little hairy. But once you’re at the very top, you are in complete aw! I know my jaw was dropped just looking all around at the amazing scenery that you could see. If you go on a busy weekend or even during the week during summer, you are more than likely to reach a line to take a picture over the arch. But, pictures or it didn’t happen, am I right? This hike was the first one we did and we were so excited when we did it. On our way back down, we took a side trail and it was just incredible to see all the nature that was surrounding us. And when I say this hike is for everyone, I mean it. There are plenty of places to stop and take a quick break. PROTIP- hike with a camel back! I cannot stress this enough. My fiancé and I both had one on and we BOTH nearly ran out of water. But we also did make our hike longer by taking side trails back to the parking lot. But even if you keep it simple, you are definitely going to want a camel back. They are light, hold a lot of water plus have room for extra items, and are so convenient. Check out our picture from Devils Bridge!

Another MUST Do: Hike to Cathedral Rock! So, first things first, there are a couple different ways to do this hike. We started much farther down my a popular swimming hole/park area. That was definitely the long, but fun, way to start. This hike would be a little iffy for the people who are afraid of heights. Once you get to the actual part of the trail that takes you up to the highest point, it gets pretty steep. I’ll add a picture in sequence of the trail from the start of the steepness to the top. But once you make it to the top, you’re in complete aw! Just looking how incredible the rocks are above and around you makes the hike worth it! But again you need to make sure you have a camel back and snacks! And lots of sunscreen, this hike was a lot less shaded then the Devils Bridge hike!

We didn’t just hike, we explored uptown, rode mountain bikes and ate. We ate A LOT. And this brings me to- TIP #2! While our visit was short, we had a go to spot for breakfast! And that was The Coffee Pot Restaurant! I am such a foodie, especially for breakfast. The Coffee Pot Restaurant is known for having over 100 omelets!! There is something for everyone to enjoy, even the most pickiest of eaters.
My last MUST DO is visit the Chapel of the Holy Cross. Even if you aren’t Catholic or religious by any means, this structure will still blow your mind. When drive up the road to get to the front of the chapel, you can see the Cross that is on the hillside. The best view, however, is walking through the doors of the chapel and all you see if views, views, and more views. It is a glassed wall that looks out through the cross you saw on your way up. It is absolutely breath taking. Unfortunately we didn’t make a mass time, but I could only imagine how beautiful it would have been.

Like I had mentioned before, our trip was not long, but it was perfect. There is so much more to explore in the beautiful city of Sedona and we cannot wait to go back.
We are also looking for some honeymoon ideas! If anyone out there has suggestions for October-Novemeber honeymoons, PLEASE let me know! I would love to hear hotel suggestions, activities, and anything else you have to offer!!
